Man held for wife’s dowry death
May 25th, 2011 - 12:14 am ICT by IANSGurgaon, May 24 (IANS) A man from Delhi who strangled his wife here over dowry demands has been arrested, police said Tuesday.
Mohit, a resident of Jonapur village of Delhi, killed his wife Archana near Ghata village of Gurgaon Monday, police said. They had got married two years ago.
“On Monday, Mohit and Archana were going to attend a marriage. On the way, Mohit started arguing with her about dowry. Near Ghata village, the argument turned violent and he strangled his wife,” said a senior police officer.
After the incident, he took her to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi. The doctors at the hospital informed the police.
The woman’s family members alleged that he often used to harass her for dowry, police said.
