Man held for vehicle thefts
February 23rd, 2011 - 10:34 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) A 19-year-old school dropout who took to vehicle theft to lead a lavish lifestyle has been arrested in north Delhi, police said Wednesday. “Gourav, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, was held with a stolen bike in Malka Ganj in north Delhi Tuesday,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rupinder Kumar.
“He is involved in a number of cases and sold 14 stolen motorcycles. Gourav has studied till Class 7 and was pursuing a computer course from a private institution,” said Rupinder Kumar.
During interrogation, the accused told police that he was associated with a gang of vehicle thief Asif. Asif was arrested month ago and 36 bikes were recovered.
Gaurav told police he took to crime to lead a lavish lifestyle and impress girls, police said.
The stolen vehicles were disposed off by him in remote rural areas of Uttarakhand. “We have till now recovered three vehicles,” added Rupinder Kumar.
