Man held for snatching purse of Libyan envoy’s wife

New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) A 20-year-old man was arrested Saturday for snatching the purse of Libyan ambassador’s wife in south Delhi last week, police said.

Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar in west Delhi, was arrested from Defence Colony and a Nokia phone taken with the purse was recovered, police said.

Ambassador Ramadan Eid Elbahbah lives in Defence Colony with his family. His wife’s purse was snatched in the colony market last Friday, police said.

Singh committed the crime along with his three accomplices.

“Singh and his associates, on their two motorcycles came from behind, and snatched the victim’s purse around 7.15 p.m. It contained around Rs.10,000 and a Nokia mobile,” said a police official.

His accomplices have been identified as Bunty, a resident of Dwarka in west Delhi, Kaley and Pappiya, both living in Vishnu Garden in west Delhi.

“Singh had previously been arrested in a similar case in Kirti Nagar in west Delhi,” police said.
