New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) A rickshaw puller was arrested here Wednesday on the charge of repeatedly raping his 13-year-old niece for a month in his east Delhi home, police said. Abdul Gaffar, 37, was arrested for raping his brother-in-law’s daughter at his Chilla village home in Mayur Vihar locality of east Delhi. The victim’s father, who accidentally found Gaffar in a compromising position with his daughter late Tuesday, informed the police.

The police took the girl for a medical examination in a hospital, where doctors confirmed the sexual assault.

“We have arrested Gaffar on the basis of allegations and medical reports,” said Rajender Gautam, in charge of the Mayur Vihar police station.

The victim in her complaint alleged that Gaffar had been exploiting her for the past one month and had threatened of dire consequences if she dared to speak about this to any one.

The police said the two families live in the same neighbourhood and have known each other for 30 years. The victim’s father works in a printing press in Daryaganj area.
