Man held for overseas job racket
February 17th, 2011 - 10:36 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) A 34-year-old Delhi University graduate was held here for duping several people on the pretext of giving them jobs in Singapore and other countries, police said Thursday.”Sujeet Kumar Biswas, who hails from West Bengal, was held from PVR Saket complex Wednesday when he came to meet someone to collect money,” a senior police officer said.
Police said they recovered forged documents relating to employment visas, insurance papers, work permit and other papers, including those of the ministry of manpower, Singapore.
Biswas was held on a complaint Sept 9 last year by Ajay Singh Negi, a resident of Sangam Vihar, who said that Sujeet had duped him and his five friends of lakhs of rupees after promising them of providing jobs in Singapore.
“The accused collected Rs.10,000 for a forged letter of employment of the ministry of manpower, Singapore, Rs.1.10 lakh for providing employment visa, and Rs.80,000 for furnishing an insurance bond from each of the victims,” said the police officer.
He added that the accused even sent two of the victim’s friends to Singapore on forged documents, who were later deported back to India.
During interrogation, Sujeet said he had three offices at Arjun Nagar, Main Shivalik Road and Laxmi Nagar. He also said that he used to close his offices after collecting money from the victims.
Sujeet had earlier worked as a quality controller and merchandiser for various fabrication units in Okhla, Noida and other parts of Delhi.
He also went to Singapore for a job, where he met two men, Ram Tilesmin and Manoj Jena, who used to dupe people from rural areas on the pretext of sending them abroad. “He returned to India and lured people by giving advertisements in national dailies for overseas employment,” the police officer added.
