Man held for killing daughter, her lover
November 16th, 2011 - 3:39 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 16 (IANS) In a case of honour killing, a man was arrested Wednesday for hacking his 18-year-old daughter and her lover to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, police said.
Laljeet, 50, a native of Heeraganj village, some 300 km from Lucknow, killed his daughter Indira and her lover Annirudh, 20, a resident of the same village, late Tuesday. Their bodies were recovered Wednesday morning.
“We started probing the case from the honour killing angle when we learnt that Laljeet was dead against his daughter’s affair,” police inspector S.K. Singh said.
“Laljeet confessed that he killed the two because they had planned to elope to get married which he thought would bring a bad name to his family,” he added.
Police are yet to ascertain whether other family members of Laljeet were involved in the killings.
