New Delhi, May 10 (IANS) A man has been arrested for allegedly abducting a three-year-old girl to settle a dispute with the victim’s uncles, the police said Saturday. Ravi, a native of Nagaur in Rajasthan, was arrested Friday for abducting Muskan from outside her shanty in Nanak Pura area Tuesday.
Police said the victim’s mother Shimla reported that her children were playing in a nearby park with her mother-in-law Indira Rani when Ravi, known to her family, took Muskan with him on the pretext of giving her an ice cream.
Ravi did not come back and a case was lodged against him at the R.K. Puram Police Station.
The police said that during investigation it came to light that Ravi is a contractor for laying cables and Shimla’s brothers-in-law Jagdish and Raju used to work with him.
“Ravi claimed that he had paid advance money to Jagdish and Ravi for work and wanted to get it back as they stopped working for him. He used to regularly visit the victim’s house for money. But the victim’s uncles claimed that Ravi was not paying them for work,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest Delhi) Shalini Singh.
She said Ravi called up the family to inform that Muskan was with him and would release her on receipt of Rs.5,000.
“Ravi informed the family that he was in Madan Pur Khadar area. A raid was conducted and he was arrested. The child was rescued,” she added.
