Man held for giving illegal surety in court
April 12th, 2011 - 8:45 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 12 (IANS) A man who used illegal documents to stand surety for undertrials and convicts in courts has been arrested from west Delhi, police said Monday.
Ramesh Kumar, 55, was arrested from his house in Raghubir Nagar April 8.
“Kumar is an alcoholic. He provided fake surety in courts to make money,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.
“A case was registered against him in May 2009 after it was found that he had furnished a fake surety by producing the registration certificate of a stolen motorcycle,” she added.
He was involved in three more cases, police said.
