Man held for blackmailing Anoushka Shankar
September 20th, 2009 - 2:45 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS) A Mumbai-based man has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly blackmailing sitar player Anoushka Shankar with her pictures, officials said Sunday.
“The man was arrested Sep 15 and is being questioned by Delhi Police,” a police officer told IANS.
Sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar told police that his daughter had got several email from a man who had some of her pictures. A complaint was registered by the police last week.
Pandit Ravi Shanker told police that his daughter had given her laptop for repairing to a company in south Delhi in February.
“The man supposedly copied the pictures from the laptop and sent her email demanding $100,000 for not making them public. We are ascertaining how he got the pictures from the laptop,” the officer said.
