New Delhi, April 25 (IANS) In yet another case of sexual assault on a minor girl in the capital, a man has been arrested here for allegedly abducting and attempting to rape a three-year-old girl in northwest Delhi, police said Friday. The incident occurred in Sarai Rohilla area barely a few hours after a Delhi Police constable Sanjiv Rana and his property dealer friend abducted a minor girl and gang raped her in a moving car Thursday afternoon in a nearby area.

Police said the accused, identified as Gurmeet Singh, 30, lured the girl on the pretext of buying her sweets while she was playing outside her Railway Colony home.

Singh took her to a secluded place and tried to rape her but she raised an alarm.

Hearing her cries, some passers-by noticed the girl struggling to get free from the clutches of Singh. They immediately overpowered him and informed the victim’s parents and local residents, said a police official.

The girl’s parents informed the police and Singh was arrested on the charges of kidnapping and attempting to rape a minor.

Police said Singh had recently come out of jail after serving a sentence of four years in a rape case.
