Man gets death penalty for killing policemen in China
September 1st, 2008 - 4:05 pm ICT by IANSShanghai, Sep 1 (Xinhua) A Chinese court Monday sentenced a man to death for killing six policemen and injuring four others in Shanghai two months ago.On July 1, Yang Jia, a 28-year-old unemployed man from Bejing, forced his way into a police station in Shanghai’s Zhabei district and attacked nine people with a sharp weapon.
Six police officers were killed and four injured in the attack.
Yang was apprehended at the scene and confessed to the killings, the prosecution said.
The man reportedly told investigators that his attack on police officers was in revenge for what he called mistreatment by police when they arrested him last October on a charge of stealing bicycles.
