Bhopal, July 14 (IANS) A man allegedly being harassed by a money-lender for a debt incurred by his father tried to commit suicide in front of Madhya Pradesh chief minister’s residence after he failed to meet him. Ujiyaralal (24), son of late Dharmetali Kushwaha, resident of Katni district, came to the capital to meet Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to seek his help.
He wanted to meet the chief minister during the ‘janata darbar’ (peoples’ court) but could not as the meet was cancelled due to Chouhan’s busy schedule, sources said.
“The cops on duty outside the chief minister’s house came to know of it when he started vomiting. He was immediately rushed to Hamidia Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical,” a police official said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Jamuna Devi, who visited the victim in the hospital, said: “This showed the insensitivity of the present state government towards the woes of the people of the state.”
She also demanded that the victim’s family be provided financial assistance and free medical treatment.
