Man arrested with fake passport at Lucknow airport
August 10th, 2010 - 10:56 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 10 (IANS) A man was Tuesday arrested at the airport here with a fake passport, police said.
Immigration officials at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport (Amausi) here held Ameerul Mandal, who had travelled from Muscat to Lucknow on an Oman Airlines flight.
“The passport was issued in the name of Hisab Mohammad, a native of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh,” police inspector Arun Dwivedi told reporters here.
According to the police, Mandal’s passport was seized in Dubai after he failed to repay a loan taken from a bank there. Thereafter, Mandal managed to get a fake passport with the assistance of a Lucknow-based tout.
“The man is being interrogated by the officials of the local intelligence unit. Efforts are on to nab the tout who supplied the fake passport,” said Dwivedi.
