Man arrested with brown sugar worth Rs.5 mn

Lucknow, Oct 3 (IANS) A peddler was arrested Friday with one kg of a drug that carried the street name of brown sugar, worth Rs.5 million, in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, the police said.A police official said that Amjad Hussain smuggled drugs from Nepal, and was a resident of Gorakhpur district, over 280 km from here.

“We arrested him from the Sonara canal locality, close to the India-Nepal border, while he was trying to board a bus,” inspector Madhusudan Singh of Kotwali police station told IANS by phone.

“We have also gathered vital clues about the suppliers and hope to make more arrests soon,” he added.
