Man arrested for supplying explosives to Maoists
May 21st, 2010 - 11:58 am ICT by IANSLucknow, May 21 (IANS) A man suspected of supplying explosives to Maoists has been arrested in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said Friday.
Ashok Kumar was arrested Thursday evening from Langdra area with several detonators, gelatin rods and widely used commercial explosive ammonium nitrate.
“The man is making contradictory statements about the explosives recovered from his possession. We cannot rule out the possibility of Kumar’s involvement in supplying of explosives to Maoists,” Inspector M.S. Shukla told reporters in Sonbhadra, some 300 km from Lucknow.
According to the police, over 50-kg of ammonium nitrate, 25 detonators and 25 gelatin rods were seized from Kumar.
