Man arrested for snatching a bag to gift to wife
November 26th, 2009 - 11:33 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) A wish to gift his wife a handbag on their wedding anniversary landed a man in jail as he was caught snatching a woman’s bag in the capital, police said Thursday.
Kamal, 24, was arrested Tuesday from Mukherjee Nagar in north Delhi while he was trying to escape after snatching the handbag.
“Police deployed in the area heard a women screaming for help when two motorcycle-borne men snatched her bag from her hand. They chased the thieves and nabbed one of the two,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) N.S. Bundela.
According to Bundela, Kamal told police that it was his wedding anniversary Tuesday and he wanted to gift his wife a handbag.
Police said five cases of theft and robbery are registered against Kamal.
