Man arrested for killing friend’s wife
September 16th, 2011 - 9:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 16 (IANS) A 35-year-old man, who allegedly killed his friend’s wife as her husband was repeatedly refusing to lend him money, was arrested here, police said Friday.
Shailesh stabbed Meena Mehra, 59, to death Aug 31 in west Delhi. He was arrested Sep 15 in east Delhi while he was trying to escape to Uttarakhand.
“The accused had a business of generators but had incurred huge losses recently and was in dire need of financial help,” said a police officer.
Shailesh asked his family friend Mahendra Mehra, 64, for help. He eventually decided to rob Mahendra.
“On the day of the incident, the accused barged into the house and found the victim alone and stabbed her several times. He then stole Rs.40,000 and a gold pendant and fled,” said the officer.
