Ghaziabad, March 24 (IANS) A man who had pasted an obscene pamphlet against judge Preeti Singh for not ensuring justice to the soul of murdered teenager Aarushi Talwar has been arrested, police said Thursday.
A court sent the man, identified as Kewal Chawla of Delhi, to 14 days judicial remand.
According to the investigation officer Dharamvir, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) had ordered police to identify and arrest the man who had pasted the pamphlet at the lawyer’s entrance at the court complex.
A notice was served to Chawla, who was suspected of the incident. He came to the Kavi Nagar police station here, and confessed he had pasted the typed pamphlet over the notice board inside the court compound, the police official said.
Chawla said he was disgusted with the court attitude and had in anger, pasted the pamphlet which also bore his signature. His signature, taken by police, tallied with the signature on the pamphlet and he was arrested.
Brought before CJM D.D. Ojha, Chawla repeated his confession and asked the magistrate what was the punishment for his crime. The magistrate said the charge-sheet had to be seen.
Aarushi, 14, was brutally murdered in her parents’ Jalvayu Vihar flat in Noida on the night of May 15-16, 2008. Domestic help Hemraj was initially thought to be the killer but his body was found on the flat’s terrace a day later.
After two-and-half years’ investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation Dec 29, 2010, filed a closure report in the trial court. In its report, the agency pointed the needle of suspicion towards Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar.
Maintaining that Rajesh Talwar was the main suspect, the agency however said that there was not enough evidence and clarity on motive to nail him.
The special CBI court, presided over Preeti Singh, after evaluating the closure report named Rajesh and Nupur Talwar as accused Feb 9.
