Kolkata, Dec 15 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said she was missing her mother’s smiling face - “a good omen”, after the latter was admitted in a hospital following illness.
“I am missing my mother’s smiling face at home as she is in the hospital. I always make it a point to look at her face before leaving home because it helps me getting my work done,” said Banerjee in an interview to a Bengali TV channel.
Banerjee also rued the lack of opportunity to visit her mother at the SSKM hospital where she is undergoing treatment for the past several days.
“After the AMRI tragedy I hardly find any time to see my mother. She too has told me to not to worry about her but to take care of those who have been affected by the tragedy. I feel very sad looking at my mother lying in the hospital bed,” said Banerjee.
“I do not have time for myself. From morning to night I have to look after so many affairs, talk to so many people. At times I feel very tired. Facing so many challenges at the same time becomes tough at times,” added Banerjee.
The feisty leader who was mostly in a jovial mood through out the interview also made a tongue in cheek comment about her relationship with union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
