New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) In a bid to connect with passengers, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday released an on-board magazine for Indian Railways, which would be available free of charge on mainstream trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express.
“The magazine was conceptualized with the specific purpose of bringing the Railways closer to its main customers - the passengers,” said a statement by the ministry, adding that the magazine would also be available on air conditioned coaches of Duranto Express trains.
According to the statement, the outreach programme would inform passengers about railways’ heritage, and new policies and projects under implementation.
“A significant part of the magazine will consist of railway news including projects, policies and schemes being undertaken. One zone will be covered every month,”
The magazine would also feature destinations which are accessible only by rail through luxury trains being run by Indian railways.
“This magazine will also have a Railways and Cinema section in which famous film personalities will be interviewed about the memorable railway journeys undertaken by them.”
