Malawi president arrives on six-day India visit

New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) Malawi president Bingu Wa Mutharika arrived here Tuesday on a six-day visit, during which he will hold talks with the Indian leadership and receive an honorary doctorate.
The president’s plane arrived at the Air Force station in Palam in the morning. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Mutharika will hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday, after which a number of agreements are expected to be signed. President Pratibha Patil will host a formal state banquet in his honour Wednesday evening.
He will also have an interaction with top Indian businessmen at a luncheon on the same day.
The Delhi School of Economics will confer an honorary doctorate on the visiting president. Mutharika had completed his graduation and masters degree from Delhi University in the 1960s.
Mutharika will also travel to the tourist hotspots of Agra and Goa. He will leave India Nov 8 early morning.
