Mahindra sales up over 21 percent in February (Lead)

New Delhi, March 2 (IANS) Indian auto major Mahindra and Mahindra, part of the $6.7-billion Mahindra group, reported a 21.6 percent year-on-year increase in its three-wheeler and utility vehicle sales, selling 18,135 units last month as against 14,909 units during February 2008.
The utility vehicle segment comprising the company’s Bolero, Scorpio and Xylo range of vehicles recorded sales of 14,720 units, as compared to 12,562 last February - a growth of 17 percent.

M&M automotive sector’s total volumes (including joint ventures) for this February stood at 19,594 units, as against 18,379 units in February 2008.

The company sold a total of 19,894 vehicles including exports in the month under review, as against 19,674 vehicles sold in February 2008.

M&M’s year-to-date volumes till this February stand at 194,467 units, as against 195,849 units in the corresponding period last year.

Logan, the passenger car from Mahindra’s joint venture with Renault, sold 1,008 vehicles during the period as against 2,751 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
