Mahindra passenger car sales marginally up in February

New Delhi, March 2 (IANS) Indian auto major Mahindra and Mahindra recorded 2.7 percent year-on-year growth in passenger car sales last month, the company said Monday.
Mahindra sold 15,728 passenger cars, including 14,720 utility vehicles and 1,008 Logans - manufactured jointly with Renault - in February 2009 as against 15,313 a year ago.

The company said it sold 2,287 units of its high-end brand Xylo in February, which was launched a month earlier.

However, Mahindra fared badly in the sales of light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which slumped 37.2 percent, while exports plummeted over 76 percent.

The consolidated sales including exports during the month stood at 19,894 units, up 1.1 percent from 19,674 vehicles a year earlier.

In the 11-month period ending February 2009, Mahindra sold 202,506 vehicles, down 2 percent as compared with the corresponding period last fiscal.
