Luxury train trips for Indian CWG medal winners
October 5th, 2010 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) As an incentive for Indian athletes who win medals at the Commonwealth Games, the tourism ministry Tuesday announced it will give them complimentary tickets in luxury trains travelling to tourist destinations.
“Each of the individual medal winners along with a companion will be given complimentary passes for travel in the luxury trains Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, Golden Chariot, Deccan Odyssey or Maharaja Express according to the category of the medal won,” an official statement said Tuesday.
The statement further said the sportspersons will be felicitated at a special function after the Games culminates. The Games culminate Oct 14.
“In case of team events each team member along with their coach will be given the all inclusive complimentary tickets,” it said.
The trip will include travel, accommodation, food and sightseeing, which ranges from seven to eight nights. The sportspersons can avail the tickets anytime upto March 31, 2012.
The incentive, the statement said, range from Rs.1.20 lakh to Rs.3.20 lakh per person.
