Lovers found dead in Delhi (Lead)
June 14th, 2010 - 7:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 14 (IANS) A 19-year-old girl and her 20-year-old boyfriend were found dead with multiple stab wounds at her uncle’s house here, police said Monday, adding they suspect it to be a case of honour killing.
The victims were identified as Asha and Yogesh.
The police moved after being alerted about an abandoned car in front of the house in Swaroop Nagar in northwest Delhi.
“Neighbours said a scuffle broke out in the house last (Sunday) night,” a police officer said.
The house was locked. “After breaking in we found the bodies,” the officer said.
Asha’s uncle and other members of the family are absconding.
“Prima facie it looks like a case of honour killing. The girl’s marriage was fixed and she was in a relationship with Yogesh. Both were from different castes,” the officer said. Her family did not want them to wed.
