List of victims being compiled for compensation: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday said officials have compiled a list of the kin of the deceased and immediate family members of the injured in the Delhi High Court blast in order to disburse compensation.
He said the first step was to provide them medical attention, to save their lives, followed by monetary compensation.
“Monetary compensation is not enough in a case where a life has been lost. The next step to help them is under consideration. As soon as decisions are taken, I will share it with you,” Chidambaram told reporters.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced a compensation of Rs.2 lakh each to the family of those killed and Rs.1 lakh each for the injured.
The Delhi government too has announced a compensation of Rs.4 lakh to the next of the kin of those killed in the blast while those permanently incapacitated will get Rs.2 lakh.
Those seriously injured in the blast will get Rs.1 lakh while in case of any death of minor, the family will get Rs.1.5 lakh. People who received minor injuries in the blast will be given Rs.10,000.
The bombing on Wednesday killed 13 people and injured around 90.
