The 2009 MTV VMA awards seem to have been a spectacular affair after all, with some of the most bizarre events that have highlighted the show on Sunday night. After Kanye West’s rude interruption of Taylor Swift during the latter’s acceptance speech for winning in the category of the Best Female Video (West voiced his displeasure vehemently over Beyonce not winning in the category) and Lady GaGa’s gory, out of the box performance during the night (including her show stopping, head turning attire), Lil Mama’s act has put her in the hot list too. Both of the incidents coincidentally have occurred to the celebrity couple of Beyonce and husband Jay-Z.

Though nobody knows quite why, but during the performance by rapper Jay-Z and R n B diva Alicia Keys, Mama took the liberty to join the two on stage, unaccounted and uninvited. It gave rise to one of the most awkward and highlighted moments of the night.

As Jay-Z and Keys were performing the “Empire State of Mind,” Lil Mama made a wild dash for the stage and scrambled on to the podium, in what can be obviously made out to be an attempt to join in the performance. After making some cue less gestures while the other two carried on uninterrupted, she stood awkwardly beside the performers in a B-Girl like posture when the performance drew to an end.

Her stepping up however, did not seem to have caused any kind of hitch in Jay-Z and Key’s performance as both carried on doing what they were doing without any friction. Jay-Z, other than displaying a slight surprise in his body language, carried on the with the flow, as did Keys.
