Lightning kills five in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 5 (IANS) At least five persons were killed and three injured by lightning in two separate incidents in Chhattisgarh, police said Sunday.”Three men were killed in Sitapur forested area (Surguja district) and two were injured. Two men were killed in Dhamtari district and one was injured. Both the incidents took place late Saturday,” a police official told IANS.

He said all the victims were below 25 years of age except a 61-yr-old tribal who was killed in Surguja. Surguja district lies in northern Chhattisgarh while Dhamtari is about 170 km from Raipur.

The injured youth were admitted to district government hospitals, one person at Dhamtari town and two at Ambikapur, the district headquarters of Surguja.
