Light rains in Delhi, more expected Wednesday

New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) Delhi Tuesday received light showers bringing down the minimum temperature. The weatherman has forecast more rains Wednesday.

Tuesday’s maximum temperature settled three notches below average at 31.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 24.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for this time of the season, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

According to IMD, a total of 6.9 mm of rain was recorded from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Tuesday. A similar weather pattern will continue Wednesday.

“The sky will remain cloudy Wednesday with possibility of rain and thundershowers and one or two heavy spells in certain areas,” the IMD official said.

The maximum temperature Wednesday is likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius while the minimum is likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius.

The city has so far received 470.8 mm of rainfall this monsoon, 17 percent below average for the season.
