Leverkusen cruise to victory against Hoffenheim in Bundesliga

Berlin, Dec 3 (IANS) Bayern Leverkusen sealed three points and consolidated their sixth position in the Bundesliga as they defeated TSG Hoffenheim 2-0 at the Bay Arena.

Leverkusen quickly got into the stride as Eren Derdiyok headed home a follow up shot from very close range in the 10th minute to give the home side the lead.

From that point on, Leverkusen dominated the match but failed to extend their lead. They had to wait until the 79th minute when creative midfielder Sidney Sam executed a beautiful chip over Hoffenheim goalkeeper Tom Starke to hand the home side their seventh win of the season.

Leverkusen stay on sixth position with 25 points while Hoffenheim slipped from ninth to 10th position with 18 points.

“We could have played better but I’m satisfied,” Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Hoffenheim coach Holger Stanislawski added: “It is hard to win when you get such goals. We need a sense of achievement.”
