Let’s build greater trust: China to India
January 9th, 2012 - 9:48 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Amid recent irritants in bilateral ties, Chinese ambassador Zhang Yan Monday rejected confrontation with India and called for scaling up strategic mutual trust that will spur the rise of the two countries.
The cooperation between India and China will benefit each other and the confrontation will hurt us, Zhang said.
“The two countries are partners in cooperation and partners in growth and prosperity,” he said.
The envoy acknowledged that there are “differences and challenges left over by history,” but pitched for greater trust and cooperation to resolve these issues.
Without naming anyone, the Chinese envoy said that some are trying to create a wedge between the two countries but asserted that they will not succeed.
Despite prophecies with evil intentions, India-China relations will take their own course and go where their national interests lie, the envoy said.
Ties between the two countries were affected over recent irritants like the Chinese denial of a visa to an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, but the two have decided to hold the 15th round of boundary talks next week.
