LeT associate arrested in Kolkata

Kolkata, March 6 (IANS) An alleged associate of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), absconding for 10 years, was arrested from a railway station here Friday, police said.
“We’ve arrested Abu Taher, 45, from the Sealdah railway station area Friday evening. He was coming from West Bengal’s Murshidabad district by Lalgola Express,” Kolkata Police joint commissioner (Special Task Force) Rajiv Kumar told IANS.

He said: “The STF arrested Taher acting on tip off by the Border Security Force (BSF). He was absconding since the past 10 years.”

According to police sources, Taher was an expert in making explosive devices and was staying in Bangladesh for the last few years.

Police are now investigating whether he had ever brought explosives to India.
