Leopard found dead in Uttar Pradesh
July 27th, 2011 - 4:05 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, July 27 (IANS) The carcass of a five-year-old male leopard was found near Uttar Pradesh’s Katarniaghat forest reserve Wednesday, an official said.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R.K. Singh said the injuries on the leopard’s body suggest it was attacked by a tiger.
Also, a tiger’s pug marks and tufts of hair have been found at the site in Lodhanpurwa village — situated in Bahraich, some 140 km from here.
The carcass has been sent for autopsy to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly. There are over 32 leopards in the Katarniaghat forest reserve.
