Left vows to be ‘responsible opposition’
May 13th, 2011 - 7:33 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, May 13 (IANS) After losing power for the first time in 34 years in West Bengal, a dejected Left Front promised Friday to act as a “responsible opposition”.
“We will play the role of a responsible opposition,” Left Front chairman Biman Bose told reporters here.
Bose, a senior leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), said the Left had failed to read people’s minds that led to the “debacle”.
He said the Left will do “a thorough analysis” but admitted that West Bengal voters had been captivated by the Trinamool Congress slogan of ‘parivartan’ (change).
“We accept the verdict with humility,” he said.
