Law student shot dead in Kanpur
October 15th, 2009 - 3:17 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kanpur, Oct 15 (IANS) A law student here was shot dead early Thursday following a brawl at a wedding, prompting angry students of his college to block the busy Lucknow-Kanpur highway.
Abhinav Singh, a second year law student of the Brahmanand Degree College, was killed about half an hour after midnight after an argument with some youths.
“The incident took place at the Satsang Park where he had gone to attend the marriage of a friend. There he had an argument with some youths,” said D.K. Chaudhary, superintendent of police (west), adding that his friends pacified him and sent him home.
However, two youths followed him and shot him dead at point blank range.
Following the incident, students of the college blocked the Lucknow-Kanpur highway and tried to torch the Shastrinagar police station.
“We will soon nab the killers,” Chaudhary told IANS.
