Chennai, Aug 28 (IANS) Delhi’s Lavery Kumar came up with a one-over par 73 that took her tally to 224 in the penultimate round as she led by seven strokes in the Gold Division IGU Categorized Madras Ladies Golf championship, here Thursday.Placed second was Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi, who went four-over 76 for the day to finish three rounds with a total of 231, followed by Shruti Khanna from Delhi (232).
Bela Phadke from Pune won the Open title in the Bronze division (54 holes) with an aggregate of 321 while Susie Kurien (324) from Chennai was the runner-up.
Lavery, a 11th standard student who finished fourth in the British Open junior championship last month, missed birdies on the opening two holes, but picked up a stroke on the sixth only to bogey the 472-yard seventh. She finished the outward trip on par before three-putting on the 10th for a bogey.
On the 17th, Lavery, who plays to four, dropped a stroke as she lost her way among the trees, but finished strongly on the 18th that she birdied. Her card of 73 won her the Stableford prize.
In the Silver division, Premalatha from Chennai returned a card of 92, but still led as her nearest rival Pune’s Arya Tikenekar had a 94.
