New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) Unidentified robbers engaged a former Indian intelligence officer in a conversation to divert his attention and lifted a laptop from his car parked in an upscale south Delhi market, police said Thursday.
S.S. Bhutalia, a retired Colonel of India’s external intelligence wing RAW, told police that he had gone to South Extension market with his wife for shopping Wednesday evening when the incident took place.

“I was standing near my car when a young man came to me and said the tyre of my car was flat. I checked it but it was all right. At that moment another man standing near the back door of my car said an umbrella was lying there. When I tried to pick up the umbrella I saw my laptop was missing from the back seat,” he said in his complaint.

He searched for the laptop and in the meantime the robbers fled.

Police said Bhutalia, who lives in Noida, was waiting for his wife who had gone inside a shop.
