Land scam: CBI joint director appears in court (Lead)
January 12th, 2012 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 12 (IANS) A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) joint director Thursday appeared in a Delhi court and told it that efforts were being made to trace missing documents related to an alleged multi-crore rupees land scam here.
The Delhi High Court, earlier in the day, gave a reprieve to the probe agency’s director and allowed a joint director to appear in his place in the trial court over the missing documents.
The case related to Delhi Vidhan Sabha canteen’s former contractor Ashok Malhotra, who was arrested Aug 6, 2007 along with Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Delhi Development Authority officials for allegedly conspiring to acquire plots - in Molarband in south Delhi and Dheerpur in north Delhi - meant for resettlement of slum dwellers.
