Lalgarh carnage: Police announce reward for information
February 12th, 2011 - 7:16 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Feb 12 (IANS) The criminal investigation department (CID) of West Bengal police probing the Lalgarh carnage Saturday released photographs of the accused including five Communist party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leaders, police said.”The photographs of the six persons accused in the incident have been released and cash reward of Rs.50,000 for person proving information leading to arrest of each accused have been announced,” said CID’s additional director general Raj Kanojia.
Nine people, including four women, were killed and 28 people were injured in clashes triggered by assailants allegedly backed by the ruling Marxists in Netai near Maoist stronghold Lalgarh in Midnapore district Jan 7.
According to a senior officer, the accused are CPI-M Lalgarh local committee Secretary Joydeb Giri, owner of the house Rathin Dandapat, and CPI-M local leaders Abani Singh, Tapan Dey, Ashwini Chetak and Fullora Mondal.
All of them are absconding since the incident, he said.
