Pune, Sep 8 (IANS) Kyrgyzstan Defence Minister Major General Abibilla Kudayberdiev visited the tri-services training institution National Defence Academy here Thursday, an official said.

Kudayberdiev, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation, was received by NDA Commandant Lt. Gen. Jatinder Singh.

They were taken around the sprawling NDA campus and briefed on the various training activities conducted there.

The visit followed an invitation by India’s Defence Minister A.K. Antony during his visit to Kyrgyz capital Biskek last July, the official said.

“India has progressively strengthened its bilateral defence cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the fields of military exercises, training, jungle warfare, information technology and counter-terrorism over the last few years,” the official told IANS.

Presently, NDA is training cadets from five foreign countries, including Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, both Kyrgyzstan’s neighbours.
