Kolkata roads to get 120 surveillance cameras
November 9th, 2009 - 4:08 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kolkata, Nov 9 (IANS) A total of 120 intelligence surveillance cameras will soon be installed in sensitive locations of Kolkata to step up security and check rash driving, a police official said Monday.
“These cameras will be installed at various spots across the city. They will also help in booking those guilty of rash driving,” said Additional Commissioner (traffic) K. Harirajan.
Twelve such cameras have already been set up, Harirajan said after flagging off the SBI-Kolkata-on-Wheels Car Rally here.
“Last year there were 421 deaths in traffic accidents in Kolkata. This year the count till now is 360 and we are trying to restrict it to within 400,” he added.
