Kobad Ghandy fit for narco test: Doctors
October 29th, 2009 - 7:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) A team of doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Thursday declared in a city court here that leader of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Kobad Ghandy is medically fit to undergo narco-test as required by police.
The report was submitted before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja who reserved her final order on the police plea till Oct 31.
The court had last week asked the team of doctors of AIIMS to ascertain Ghandy’s health condition.
The court passed the order after Ghandy’s lawyer opposed the plea of Delhi Police on the ground that he was suffering from a heart disease and could not withstand such a test.
Police had moved the application for conducting the narco-analysis test on Ghandy arguing that they could not extract useful information as he was not cooperating.
Ghandy is presently in 14 days’ judicial custody.
