Kidnappers develop cold feet, get jailed
March 7th, 2010 - 5:56 pm ICT by IANSGandhinagar, March 7 (IANS) Amateur kidnappers of the sons of a Gujarat legislator and a banker who sought to extract ransom money ended up behind bars after developing cold feet.
According to police, six youngsters, all residents of a hostel in Anand district, were nabbed Saturday night for their involvement in the kidnapping of Yudhishtir Chauhan, son of Devusinh Chauhan, a legislator from Matar, and Mihir, son of banker Dilip Rai.
The two victims were seized separately but confined together in a hostel room. While Rs.10,000 and a mobile was demanded from the legislator for his release, the kidnappers sought Rs.25,000, a laptop and a bike from Mihir’s family.
However, once news of the kidnapping filtered out, the young criminals developed cold feet and fled from the hostel. It did not take for police to hunt them down.
