New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) An 18-month-old Delhi boy has been rescued from the clutches of his abductors, police said Wednesday adding that the kidnapping-for-ransom plan was hatched by a bunch of men and women who were fed up with their menial jobs. Four people have been arrested.

The son of a south Delhi businessman, Ishaan was rescued from the Delhi-Faridabad border, Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta told reporters.

Four people, including the maid Seema, have been arrested for the crime that took place Sunday, police said adding that the accused were planning to demand a ransom of around Rs.2 crore.

“All the accused were working in the Maharani Bagh area and had no criminal background,” Gupta said adding the kidnapping was done with the intention of ransom.

“They had planned to keep the child for a month or so and ask for ransom at least 15 days after the kidnapping. They planned to demand around Rs.2 crore,” Gupta said.

The son of businessman Vikram Singh, who owns a showroom in Khan Market, Ishaan went missing Sunday after his maid Seema took him to a neighbourhood park and never returned. The family had not got police verification done for the maid.

A reward of Rs.50,000 was also announced for giving a tip-off.

“Seema was working under a false name. Her real name is Sarita Karketa,” Gupta said giving details of the accused.

The other accused have been identified as Ashok Kiru, who was the mastermind, Anu Ara Begum and Krishna Dev Kumar, all hailing from Orissa. Another maid from the house, Pratima, who is also Kiru’s fiancee, left for her village four days before the kidnapping.

“The maid took the baby to the park where Kiru was waiting with a car, the baby was taken to a hideout in Sarai Kale Khan area. However, as the checking was intensified, they shifted from there,” he said.

The abductors also dressed the child like a girl to escape the eyes of police and people.

“The idea was that they had had enough of menial jobs and wanted a big catch to lead comfortable lives,” Gupta added.
