Khurshid, Verma repeat violators of poll code: Jaitley
February 19th, 2012 - 5:41 pm ICT by IANS
Agra, Feb 19 (IANS) Bhartiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley Sunday charged Congress ministers Salman Khurshid and Beni Verma with “repeatedly offending” the Election Commision by violating the poll code.
“The two are repeatedly offending the Election Commission,” said Jaitley, expressing satisfaction over the poll panel’s working.
Addressing a press conference here, he indicated that the results of the Uttar Pradesh assembly election will impact national politics and the United Progressive Alliance government, which may increasingly need to rely on the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
Jaitley also accused the Congress and its allies of openly indulging in communal politics and seeking to divide the voters on sectarian lines.
Noting that Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad had also tried this in Bihar but failed, Jaitley expressed the hope that the people of Uttar Pradesh will also reject this approach and will usher in change.
