Khurshid dismisses Jaganmohan’s accusation
August 15th, 2011 - 5:00 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) Dismissing YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s accusation of witch-hunting by the Congress, Law Minister Salman Khurshid Monday said “everything has happened on court’s orders”.
“Whatever has happened has happened on court’s orders, we have done nothing. Now we cannot face contempt of court,” said Khurshid.
Khurshid said the Supreme Court had ensured that the operation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was largely autonomous.
“Therefore, CBI gets the authority from court orders and the court supervises what the agency does. So we don’t come into the picture,” said Khurshid.
Reddy had earlier in the day accused the Congress of a witch-hunt because he had left the party and of maligning his late father, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The MP from Kadapa also announced that he would challenge in the Supreme Court the Andhra Pradesh High Court order of a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into his alleged illegal assets.
