Bangalore, June 23 (IANS) Khalin Joshi took ample advantage of his Bangalore colleague S Chikkrangappa’s putting woes and, carding a two-under 70, took over the lead from the latter at the end of the third round of the Toyota Corolla Altis Southern India Amateur Golf Championship here Thursday.

Joshi, 18, with his first sub-par round of the week, is now two one-over 217 for three days and two clear of Chikka.

Chikka (74) is at 219 after a disappointing round of 74 that included two birdies but also two bogeys and one double bogey.

Kanishk Madan of Delhi brought in an even par 72 for a five-over total of 221 to be placed third while Asian Games silver medallist Abhijit Chadha (73) was tied fourth with Rahul Ravi at 222.

Joshi, who won the Bangladesh Amateurs earlier this year had birdies on 4th, 8th, 9th, 11th and two bogeys on 12th and 18th.

“I think I can play much better. Though it was great grouping, I always enjoy playing with Chikka and Rahul Ravi but I still need to concentrate a little more,” said Joshi.

Chikka had a birdie on third, but a bogey on eighth and a double on ninth meant he turned in two-over. On the back nine he bogeyed the 13th but got the shot back 14th.

The day’s best score came from Trishul Chinnappa of Bangalore at four-under 68. But with 79s on first two days he was ninth at 226.
