Kerala set for literature gala
November 15th, 2011 - 9:34 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Nov 15 (IANS) The second edition of the Hay Festival, a three-day cultural fete featuring poets, storytellers, novelists, journalists and filmmakers, begins here Thursday.
The highlight of this year’s edition will be presentations of various poetic works from across the globe and a Poetry Gala with K. Satchidanandan, Simon Armitage, Twm Morys, Anupama Raju, Eurig Salisbury and others.
Lyndy Cooke, executive producer of Hay Festival Kerala, said this year’s programme celebrates the languages of the world and the issues of the day.
“Our offering this year is not limited to literature in the basic sense but through aspects like poetry, films and news,” Cooke told reporters here Tuesday.
The festival will also present a more eclectic and evolving programming with events on films, cosmology, children’s literature, media and the socio-political scenario and medicine, apart from offerings of regional and world literature.
Entry to the festival, organised in association with Qatar Airways, is free.
