Kerala capital gets high-tech museum
May 8th, 2011 - 1:33 am ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, May 8 (IANS) The historic Park View building in Kerala’s capital city has transformed itself into a modern, high-tech museum giving a peek into the evolution of the state and its stunning cultural artefacts.
Spread over 7,000 sq ft, “Keralam - Museum of History and Heritage” houses a rich array of rock paintings, frescoes, murals, engravings, sculptures, idols and tools in stone, unfolding the 3,000-year-old history of Kerala in a distinctive style, according to a senior official.
“Keralam” is a collaborative effort of the departments of tourism and culture.
“The Museum has been conceived to help research and studies in Kerala’s history through words, visuals and video presentations,” Kerala Tourism Secretary V. Venu told reporters here Saturday.
“Many of the artefacts on display had earlier been kept away from public view because of the lack of facilities,” added Venu.
