Kate Winslet becomes a real life heroine
August 23rd, 2011 - 11:02 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 23 (IANS) Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has been hailed as a heroine after she saved the life of Richard Branson’s mother when an inferno engulfed his Caribbean hideaway.
The actress and her two young children fled as flames engulfed the 200-million pound home on Necker Island Monday, express.co.uk reported.
Branson, founder of the Virgin Group of companies who was also staying on the island, told how Kate, 35, saved his 90-year-old mother Eve after the blaze broke out around 4 a.m. Monday.
Kate woke his mother before picking her up and carrying her to safety.
